Dancing with the Elephants: Big Business’ Economic Stronghold on the Little Guys
We will explore the economic impact of the great recession, consolidation trends, and the important role of community businesses with perspective from Dean and his 20+ years’ experience in community banking.
Dean Friesen is the Chief Operating Officer at Beacon Bank. He began his banking career following graduation and eventually co-founded Beacon Bank, a privately-held community bank with three locations in the Twin Cities and two in Duluth. He is a 1984 graduate of Hamline with a degree in economics. Dean has been involved in various community organizations and professional associations during his career. While at Hamline, he was active in the cross country & track programs. He maintains a connection to Hamline through former classmates, coach Paul Schmaedeke, and Professor Beth Gunderson.
