"The End of Fundraising as We Know It: New Sources of Revenue for Non Profits"

Nonprofit fundraising revenue is plateauing, even decreasing in some areas. Last year, for example, for every 100 donors gained, we lost 106. Where do we find the revenue we need to sustain and enhance our mission? We will explore from the commonplace- retention- to the exotic- social impact bonds.
Jim Toscano came to Minnesota from teaching at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania to run the World Press Institute at Macalester College. He served as head of resource development, publications and public relations at Macalester, then as Vice President for Resource Development and Public Affairs at the Minneapolis Society of Fine Arts. He was the President of the Minnesota Museum of Art from 1979-1981, executive vice president of the Park Nicollet Institute, 1981-2006 and President of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation until his retirement in 2012. He is presently a principal in the consulting firm, Toscano Advisors, LLC..
Mr. Toscano has written numerous articles, including a number on fundraising for www.thegoodcounsel.com he taught in the Graduate School of Business, University of St. Thomas from 1989-2001, coming to Hamline University a few years later. He has written major gift articles and book reviews for CharityChannel.com. He has served on the Boards and Commissions of over fifty nonprofit and governmental organizations, including the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, the Charities Review Council, Rainbow Research and the Medical Alley Foundation. He is an author and editor of Principles and Practices for Non-Profit Excellence of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and has co-chaired all three committees responsible for up-dating this work. He received his degrees at Rutgers College and Yale University.
