Lauren Howe '11

Hamline not only provided Lauren Howe with an education, but also helped her decide what career path was right for her.

Lauren was awarded a Presidential Scholarship that enabled her to attend Hamline University. Because of her experiences at the university, she was able to find a career path that she loves, which she may not have encountered elsewhere.

She came to the university planning to major in corporate law, but soon found that it wasn’t the right fit for her. While she was taking corporate law classes, she also took an introductory art history course, which ultimately inspired her to change the trajectory of her education.

“I fell in love with art history and out of love with the law,” Lauren said.

As a result, Lauren graduated in 2011 with a double major in Art History and Business Administration. She's currently pursuing her master's in Art History with a focus on Modern and Contemporary Art at the University of Iowa. After she graduates in May 2013, she plans to continue her education at the University of Iowa in pursuit of a doctorate in Art History.
