Global Families is a program that allows international students to form close relationships with families here in the United States. This program was created for a twofold purpose. First, many international students that are new to the United States miss their families and home. They miss eating home-cooked meals, going on weekend excursions and having a place to celebrate holidays. Global Families provides them with those opportunities while offering them a glimpse of family life here in the U.S. Second, Global Families allows families to experience rich new cultures, make new friends, and play an important role in a student's life.
The Global Families program requires you to have regular contact with your student, pick them up from the airport when they first arrive and invite them to your house for occasional holidays. Aside from these guidelines, the level of commitment is dependent on both the student and yourself.
