Endowments are of particular value to Hamline because they provide a permanent resource to our students, faculty, and academic programs. Gifts to Hamline’s endowment are permanently invested to supply a steady, annual source of funds for the purposes agreed upon by the donor and the university.
Some donors choose to allocate their gifts to the general endowment or an existing fund. Others choose to create a new endowed fund or scholarship, which can be named to honor the donor, a favorite professor, or a loved one. Such funds can be a wonderful way to commemorate a family legacy or honor an important individual.
New endowments can be established with an outright gift, a pledge paid over a period of years, or through a bequest in a will or estate plan.
Minimum gift levels
for new endowments have been established to guarantee that income from the funds will be adequate to achieve the benefactor’s intent both today and in the future. Additional gifts to endowed funds may be made at any time and in any amount.
