I don’t want to register online. What do I do?

You may use the printed form found in your Alumni Weekend invitation (mailed in August). Or, contact the Alumni Relations Office at alum@hamline.edu or 651-523-2015.

What is the registration deadline?

The last day to register online is October 6, 2017. Most events allow walk-ins.

How much does it cost to attend Alumni Weekend?

It depends!  Many events are free of charge, but events which include food and beverage will be charged per person.

What is the charge to attend The Big Bash?

We appreciate your registration on or before October 6 in order to best plan for the weekend.

Alumni & Guests: $10 per person; includes two food and beverage tickets
Faculty & Staff: $10 per person; includes two food and beverage tickets
Children: no charge for children 10 and under to enter. Food and beverage tickets will be sold the night of the event for $5 per ticket.

I’m not sure of my schedule yet for October. Can I just decide to attend Alumni Weekend events on October 13 or 14?

Yes! We do prefer to know before October 6 so we can be best prepared, though we understand our alumni are busy people – and we want to see you during Alumni Weekend. There are several events that require no registration, and the other events can accommodate some walk-in registrations at the events. Please note: if you plan to walk-in to the 50-Year Reunion Dinner, please contact the Alumni Office up until 3 p.m. on Friday, October 13, to be sure there is a seat for you.

Can faculty and staff attend Alumni Weekend?

Yes! We hope many members of Hamline’s faculty and staff (both current and former) attend Alumni Weekend—especially The Big Bash (see below re: Celebrity Bartenders!).

•    Current faculty and staff may register online, and will be charged $10 per person, which includes two food and beverage tickets.

•    Former faculty and staff should contact the Alumni Relations Office to register for any and all Alumni Weekend events by emailing alum@hamline.edu or 651-523-2015.  Formers can enter The Big Bash for free, but receive no food/beverage tickets.

•    Institutional Advancement staff attend events at no charge.  You will be registered for those events where you are working, if you plan to attend others, please let someone in Alumni Relations know. Institutional Advancement staff working at The Big Bash will each receive two food and beverage tickets, but are free to purchase additional tickets as they wish.

Can children attend Alumni Weekend?

Yes! Children are welcome to attend Alumni Weekend. There are many events and activities that are kid-friendly.

•    The Fall Fest on Saturday, October 14 is an especially good event for kids—balloon and henna artists, caricaturists, temporary tattoos, Hamline coloring sheets, and great treats. There are also several "behind-the-scenes" tours for alumni and families to enjoy.

•    Athletic events on Saturday, October 14—volleyball at 10:30 a.m., football at 1 p.m., men’s soccer at 1 p.m., and women’s soccer at 3:30 p.m.

•    The Big Bash on Saturday, October 14.

Children must be registered for events that require payment.

I want to register for myself and five friends. Can I do that?

Yes. You may register guests on a single registration form. Please indicate if they are a Hamline alumna/us and include their class year(s).

I want to attend Alumni Weekend events that are listed on the event schedule, but they are not listed on the registration form. What do I do?

Events that are not listed on the registration form do not require registration and have no cost (the football game does have a fee, payable at the gate). You are welcome and encouraged to attend many of these events as well.

What is in my Alumni Weekend packet?

Your Alumni Weekend packet will include the following things:

•    Your name tag

•    Your Alumni Weekend button, which entitles you to discounts at the HU Bookstore and Hamline dining venues (if you registered before October 6).

•    A campus map

•    Updated information about Alumni Weekend

Do I receive tickets for Alumni Weekend events?

You will not receive tickets in the mail or email for Alumni Weekend events. Alumni who registered in advance for The Big Bash will receive their two food/drink tickets (included in their admission) in their Alumni Weekend packets.

Alumni, guests, faculty, and staff attending events that require a registration on either Friday, October 13 or Saturday, October 14 will find your Alumni Weekend packet (which includes your name tag and additional information) at the Alumni Weekend Information Center. You should plan to stop by the Alumni Weekend Information Center before your first event. (See question below for hours and locations.)

I listed friends who I would like to contact on my registration form. What are you going to say to them? Will you let me know if they respond to your email?

We will attempt to contact those alumni using the email we have on record for them, and send them a short message letting them know that you hope to see them during Alumni Weekend. If we hear back from them, we’ll copy you on our response so you have each other’s email addresses as well.

The Alumni Weekend Info Center is in the Anderson Center Ridgway Forum. Grab a coffee or snack at Starbucks, visit the convenience store Leo’s Corner, or have a seat by the fireplace and relax. Or, if you’re hungry for a meal the Bishop’s Bistro is open on second floor as well. If the weather is nice, another spot to sit and relax is on the Fulford Terrace on third floor.

What should I wear to Alumni Weekend?

For most Alumni Weekend events (especially those on Saturday, October 14), alumni, family, and friends dress casually and when appropriate, for the weather. There are a few events where alumni and guests tend to dress a step up: the Golden Anniversary Luncheon, the 50-Year Reunion Dinner, and the CLA Alumni Awards Brunch. Of course, Hamline gear is always appreciated!
